A Warm Welcome To The Kirkmichael Arms

Tucked away in the rolling hills of Ayrshire, The Kirkmichael Arms is a Michelin‑listed restaurant and bar, offering a true taste of Scotland’s wilderness.

Introduction

At heart, we're still very much a pub - expect crackling fires and the kind of atmosphere where conversations flow as freely as the whisky. But step into our kitchen and you'll find something rather special. Unapologetically Scottish first, we search out local Ayrshire farmers and artisans, then the lowlands, highlands and islands, celebrating the best of Scotland's natural larder and traditional craftsmanship.

We smoke our own salmon, garlic, leeks and venison. We churn butter. Cure bacon. Bake bread. We do things in a painstaking, pre-industrial, old-style manner because we believe you can taste that on the plate. But tradition without evolution is just nostalgia. We want to bring out the very best of Scottish produce, reimagined in ways you would never expect. French techniques, Asian influence, Scottish heart. That's our approach.

It's an approach that's earned us recognition we're genuinely proud of.

Not just our Michelin listing, but being honoured as Scottish Pub of the Year - proof that doing things properly still matters. More importantly, it's brought life back to a village pub that means everything to the people who call this corner of Ayrshire home.

Whether you're here for a dram by the fire or to discover what Scottish ingredients can really do, you'll find the same thing our guests have enjoyed for centuries.

Good food, good company and good times. We're open Thursday to Saturday from 1:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:30 pm. A warm welcome awaits.
