Open: Thursday to Sunday from 1pm.

Searching for restaurants in Troon? Okay, we get it. You want something convenient, local and easy. But the very best dining experiences are worth a short journey.
Venture just 25 minutes south into the beautiful Ayrshire countryside, and The Kirkmichael Arms offers something you won't find in the town's chain restaurants and hotel dining rooms. A Michelin-recommended restaurant where traditional methods meet modern techniques, and every dish has a story.
This isn't another waterfront bistro or hotel restaurant. This is a proper country pub with log fires, carefully selected malts, and food worthy of our Michelin recommendation. Located in the village of Kirkmichael and recently crowned Best Scottish Pub 2025, here's what you need to know:
Many Troon locals are already well familiar with The Kirkmichael Arms. They know that what we're serving in this village pub goes beyond what you'll find on the high street - an approach to Scottish dining that respects tradition while refusing to stand still. Our menu changes with what's in season, but here are a few dishes that show what we're about.
Southeast Asian flavours meet Scottish seafood in our take on prawn toast. Fresh langoustines minced with ginger, lemongrass and chilli, pressed onto crispy toast. Served as part of our Lunch and Dinner menus as a small plate at £9.50.

Our beef comes from Girvan Mains, just a few miles down the road. We're talking properly reared cattle, dry-aged on site, then ground for our burgers. Topped with miso onions, tomato and truffle mayonnaise. Served as a main on our lunch menu at £19, this isn't your typical pub burger - it's what happens when you source properly and care about every element on the plate.

Slow-roasted pork rib with fermented cabbage, black pudding, Paris mash and apple mustard. Rich, hearty, and distinctly Scottish. Available on our dinner menu at £26.50, it's one of our most popular mains for good reason.

The drive from Troon to Kirkmichael takes 25 minutes, and it's straightforward.
There's parking available at the pub, and the route takes you through some of the most beautiful countryside in South Ayrshire. If you're coming from Prestwick or Ayr, the journey's even shorter - roughly 20 minutes from either.
Put that in your sat nav and you're sorted. We're open Thursday to Sunday from 1:00 pm until late. Given how quickly we fill up (especially at weekends), we'd strongly recommend booking ahead. You can reserve your table online or give us a call during service hours.
It goes without saying, but Ayrshire is one of the UK's most popular destinations for golf tourism. With world-famous courses like Royal Troon on our doorstep, we see plenty of golfers throughout the season - American visitors, golf tourists from across the UK, and locals looking for something beyond the usual clubhouse fare. Make the short drive south after your round for proper food and a proper pint.
Whether you're a Troon local looking for something different, visiting for the golf, or simply someone who appreciates great food and a warm welcome, we're here Thursday to Sunday from 1:00 pm. We fill up fast, particularly at weekends, so booking ahead is strongly recommended. You can reserve your table online or call us during service hours.
See you by the fireplace soon.
