Come & Enjoy The Best Whisky Collection in Ayrshire

Whether you're a seasoned whisky drinker or just getting started, pull up a chair by the fire and let us pour you something special.

We take our whisky seriously at The Kirkmichael Arms. Behind the bar you'll find nearly 50 carefully chosen whiskies from every corner of Scotland and beyond. Expect everything from accessible everyday drams to rare bottles you won't find at your local.

Single Malts From Across Scotland

Our collection spans every major whisky region in Scotland. Each one tells its own story. Of place, of process, of the people who made it. Here's what's waiting for you behind the bar.

Speyside (25ml)

The heartland of Scotch whisky, and the backbone of our collection.

  • - Glenfiddich 12 Year Old - £5
  • - Glenrothes 12 Year Old - £6.25
  • - Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask - £6.75
  • - Benrinnes Flora & Fauna 15 - £8
  • - Benrinnes 1997 Maltman 18 Year Old - £11
  • - Aberlour A'bunadh Cask Strength - £12.25
  • - Mortlach 16 Year Old - £14.50
  • - Balvenie 18 Year Old Pedro Ximenez - £30
  • - Macallan 18 Year Old - £35

The Balvenie 18 Pedro Ximenez is one of our favourites. Aged in sherry casks, it's rich, deep and impossibly smooth. If you're looking for something truly special, this is where to start.

Highland (25ml)

Two Highland classics.

  • - Dalmore 12 Year Old - £7
  • - Oban 14 Year Old - £7.85

The Oban 14 is a proper all-rounder - a bit of sea salt, a bit of honey, and enough character to keep things interesting.

Islay (25ml)

Islay is an island that needs no introduction to whisky lovers. For the peat lovers.

  • - Caol Ila 12 Year Old - £7.85
  • - Bowmore 15 Year Old - £8.50
  • - Caol Ila Moch - £9.50
  • - Lagavulin 16 Year Old - £8.85

If smoke and sea spray are your thing, you're in the right place.

Islands (25ml)

Beyond Islay, Scotland's islands produce some of the most distinctive single malts in the world. Coastal, characterful, and full of personality.

  • - Highland Park 12 Year Old - £5.75
  • - Talisker 10 Year Old - £7.75
  • - Arran 10 Year Old - £5.50
  • - Arran Port Cask Finish - £7.50
  • - Machrie Moor Cask Strength - £7.85

The Arran range is well worth exploring. Distilled on the Isle of Arran, their single malts are bottled without artificial colouring - and above 43% ABV, without chill filtration either. What you taste is the whisky exactly as it comes from the cask.

Lowlands (25ml)

This is where things get interesting. Traditionally known for lighter, more delicate drams - but our Lowland selection proves there's far more to this region than that. We stock one of the largest Lochlea collections you'll find in any pub in Scotland.

  • - Glenkinchie 12 Year Old - £6
  • - Auchentoshan Three Wood - £6.50
  • - Ailsa Bay - £7
  • - Lochlea 'Our Barley' - £6.75
  • - Lochlea 'Fallow Edition' - £7.25
  • - Lochlea 'Ploughing Edition' - £7.25
  • - Lochlea 'Cask Strength 2nd Edition' - £8.50
  • - Lochlea '5' - £12
  • - Bladnoch Spirit Drink - £4.50
  • - Bladnoch Vinaya - £7.50
  • - Bladnoch 22 Year Old Vintage Release - £35

Lochlea is a distillery close to our hearts. An independent, family-owned farm distillery. Based in Ayrshire, just down the road from us, they grow and harvest their own barley on the farm where it's distilled. It doesn't get more local than that. We're proud to carry their full range.

The Bladnoch 22 is a rare find. Founded in 1817, Bladnoch is the oldest Lowland distillery currently in operation - and this 22-year-old vintage release is something truly special. At £35 a measure, it's not an everyday dram, but it's one you'll remember.

Campbeltown (25ml)

Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, home to over 30 distilleries at its peak. Today, just three remain. Springbank is the jewel in the crown.

  • - Springbank 15 Year Old - £22.50
  • - Springbank 18 Year Old - £40

Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out 100% of its production on site - from floor malting to bottling. Still family-owned since 1828, still doing things the traditional way. If you know, you know.

Beyond Scotland

Scotland is the spiritual home of the water of life, but great whisky is a global conversation. We’ve curated a selection that highlights the very best from our neighbours and friends across the seas.

Blended Whisky (25ml)

Not everyone wants a single malt, and there's nothing wrong with that. Our blended selection is perfect for a straightforward dram or a whisky and mixer.

  • - Grant's Triple Wood - £4.45
  • - Famous Grouse - £4.50
  • - Monkey Shoulder - £4.85
  • - Johnnie Walker Black Label - £4.85
  • - Canadian Club - £4.50

Bourbon & Whiskey Liqueurs (25ml)

From classic American bourbon to spicy rye, our selection covers the best of what's being produced across the Atlantic.

  • - Jim Beam White Label - £4.50
  • - Jack Daniel's Tennessee - £4.50
  • - Southern Comfort - £4.50
  • - Maker's Mark Classic - £5
  • - Bulleit - £6
  • - Bulleit Rye - £6
  • - Woodford Reserve - £6

Irish Whiskey (25ml)

Smooth, approachable and easy-drinking. Our Irish whiskeys are a great starting point if you're newer to whisky.

  • - Tullamore Dew - £4.50
  • - Jameson - £4.50

Japanese Whisky (25ml)

Japanese whisky has earned its place among the world's finest, and the Hibiki Harmony Masters Select is a perfect example of why. We're proud to have it on the shelf.

  • - Hibiki Harmony Master's Select - £18

A Proper Whisky Pub in the Heart of Ayrshire

We're not trying to be a whisky museum. We're a proper country pub that happens to have a collection most bars in Scotland would be envious of. From a £4.45 Grant's to a £40 Springbank 18, there's something here for every palate and every occasion.

Our team know the collection inside out and are always happy to talk you through what's on offer. Not sure where to start? Just ask. We'll find you something you'll love.

The Kirkmichael Arms is open Thursday to Sunday from 1:00 pm until late. Come for the whisky, stay for the food. Or the other way around. Either way, a warm welcome awaits.
